Set the assumptions. See which constraint wins.

“Net resale proceeds” should already subtract resale fees, outbound shipping, packaging, risk reserve, and other selling costs. Do not enter an active asking price as though it were a completed sale.

Maximum item offer$58.41

$6.59 below the current asking price under these assumptions.

Simplified opening offer
$46.72
Profit-limited ceiling
$59.12
ROI-limited ceiling
$58.41

The opening offer is a simple 80% starting point capped by both the asking price and calculated maximum. In Card Scout, listing age and negotiation preferences can refine that starting point but never raise the objective maximum.

The problem

A discount is not automatically a deal.

An offer only works when the complete acquisition cost leaves enough room after selling fees, outbound shipping, packaging, risk, and the return you require. Negotiating down from the asking price without doing that math can turn a successful offer into an unsuccessful purchase.

This public calculator uses the same core constraint: the maximum item offer must satisfy both your minimum dollar profit and minimum ROI after acquisition shipping and estimated buyer-side tax. The lower ceiling wins.

What you get

A clearer view of the listing before you decide.

01

Profit constraint

Caps the acquisition amount so conservative net resale proceeds still leave your required dollar profit.

02

ROI constraint

Caps the acquisition amount so projected profit remains large enough relative to the money invested.

03

Delivered acquisition cost

Accounts for listing shipping and estimated buyer-side tax rather than comparing item prices alone.

04

Conservative input first

Uses net resale proceeds after expected selling costs—not an optimistic asking price or unsupported photo estimate.

05

Transparent constraints

Shows which requirement is limiting the offer so you can understand the result instead of accepting a black box.

06

Recommendation only

The calculator never communicates with eBay and never submits an offer, bid, or purchase.

A simple process

Start broad. Dig deeper when it matters.

1

Estimate conservative net proceeds

Start with proceeds after resale fees, outbound shipping, packaging, risk reserve, and other selling costs.

2

Enter acquisition costs and targets

Add the listing’s shipping, your estimated buyer-side tax rate, minimum profit, and minimum ROI.

3

Compare the result with the listing

Treat the output as a ceiling for your assumptions, then verify identity, condition, authenticity, demand, and evidence yourself.

Questions and answers

What to know before you use it.

What should I enter for conservative net resale proceeds?

Enter what you reasonably expect to keep after resale fees, outbound shipping, packaging, risk reserve, and other selling expenses—not the gross resale price.

Why can the maximum offer be zero?

If the conservative proceeds cannot cover shipping, tax, minimum profit, and ROI together, there is no non-negative item offer that satisfies your targets.

Will this calculator submit a Best Offer on eBay?

No. It performs local arithmetic only. It does not connect to eBay or take any marketplace action.
